Am 26. Mai geht es darum, wie unser Alltag heute, morgen und übermorgen aussehen wird. Vieles, was wir hier im Parlament gemeinsam mit dem anderen Co-Gesetzgeber, dem Rat, beschließen, hat mit dem Lebensalltag der Menschen in allen Mitgliedstaaten zu tun. Es lohnt nicht, sich hinterher aufzuregen, wenn ein Gesetz bereits erlassen ist, sondern ich glaube, dass diese Wahlen Menschen darüber zum Nachdenken bringen sollten: wie kann ich im Vorfeld darauf Einfluss nehmen. Und diesen Einfluss habe ich, wenn ich Volksvertreter wähle. Politik ist menschengemacht, also ist sie auch durch Menschen veränderbar. Wir müssen also mit Volksvertretern, so einem wie mir, ins Gespräch kommen, damit die wissen: was treibt mich um, was ist meine Sorge. Deshalb glaube ich, es ist wichtig hinzugehen und nicht die Politik von Politikern im stillen Kämmerlein machen zu lassen, sondern im permanenten Dialog zwischen Parlament, den Abgeordneten, also mir, und meiner Gemeinde, meiner Stadt, meinem Land.

Le 26 mai, nous allons décider comment se présentera notre vie quotidienne aujourd’hui, demain et après-demain. De nombreux dossiers que nous votons ici au Parlement avec l’autre législateur, le Conseil Européen, concerne la vie quotidienne des citoyens et citoyennes dans les Etats membres. Ce n’est pas la peine de s’insurger une fois une loi passée ; mais je crois que cette élection devrait amener les gens à réfléchir comment s’engager en amont. Je peux influencer ces décisions en votant pour les représentants qui siègent au parlement. La politique est faite par l’homme, donc, elle peut aussi être changée par l’homme. Donc, nous devons dialoguer avec ces représentants dont je suis, pour que nous, les élus, connaissions vos préoccupations et vos soucis. C’est pour cette raison que je pense qu’il est important d’aller voter, et de ne pas laisser les responsables politiques mener leur travail à l’abri des regards. La politique doit être menée dans un dialogue permanent entre le parlement, les élus, ma commune, ma ville, mon pays.

On Mat 26, we will decide how our daily lives look like today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. Many decisions we take here in the Parliament, together with the other legislator, the European Council, influence the daily life of people in all member states. There is no point in complaining once a law has passed, but I believe that this election should make people think on how to engage before a law is being voted on. I can influence politics by voting for the representatives of the people. Politics are man made and this, it can also be changed by man. We must establish a dialogue with the political representatives so that they know the existing griefs. This is why I think that it is important to vote and not leave the politics to politicians behind closed doors. Politics must be conducted in a permanent dialogue between the Parliament, the MEPs, my community, my city, my country.
