Die Europäische Union ist das Ergebnis eines Lernprozesses, den die europäischen Staaten nach Jahrhunderten von Kriegen realisiert haben. Konflikte werden nicht mehr auf dem Schlachtfeld, sondern am Verhandlungstisch ausgetragen. Damit ist die EU das erfolgreichste Friedensprojekt der Welt. Das Europäische Parlament ist auf dieser Ebene die einzige direkt von den europäischen Bürgerinnen und Bürgern gewählte Institution. Das Europäische Parlament stärken bedeutet, die europäische Demokratie zu stärken. Die Gegner der europäischen Demokratie sind zwar laut, aber diejenigen, die sich für diese europäische Demokratie engagieren sind mehr. Deswegen ist es wichtig, am 26. Mai zur Wahl zu gehen und ein klares Zeichen für die Zusammenarbeit in einem friedlich und demokratisch vereinten Europa zu setzen.

Paul Rübig repräsentiert Österreich im Europäischen Parlament

L’Union Européenne est le résultat d’un processus d’apprentissage mené par les états européens après des siècles marquées par la guerre. Les conflits ne sont plus réglés sur le champ de bataille, mais à la table de négociation. Ceci fait de l’UE le projet de paix le plus efficace au monde. Le Parlement Européen est la seule institution élue directement par les citoyennes et citoyens européens. Renforcer le Parlement Européen signifie donc de renforcer la démocratie européenne. Les adversaires de la démocratie européenne font beaucoup de bruit, mais ceux qui s’engagent pour la démocratie européenne, sont plus nombreux. C’est pour cela qu’il est important d’aller voter le 26 Mai et d’émettre ainsi, un signal fort pour la coopération au sein d’une Europe de la paix unie dans la démocratie.

The European Union is the result of a learning process of the European countries after centuries of war. Today, conflicts are no longer fought on the battlefield, but at the negotiation table. So, the EU is the most successful peace project in the world. The European Parliament is the only institution elected directly by the European citizens. To strengthen the European parliament means to strengthen the European Democracy. Even if the opponents of the European Democracy make a lot of noise, those who commit to this European Democracy outnumber them. This is why it is important to vote in May 26 and to send a clear statement in favour of the cooperation within a peaceful and democratically united Europe.
