An urgent call for help
Five political prisoners are currently facing imminent execution. The mullahs' severely weakened regime is responding with incredible harshness.
(KL) – The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) has just received news regarding the return of displaced prisoners from the notorious Evin Prison to Tehran’s Fashafuyeh after the 12-Day war. They have now been returned to Evin again, except for five political prisoners: Vahid Bani Amerian, Pouya Ghobadi, Shahrokh Daneshvarkar, Babak Alipour and Mohammad Taghavi. They are believed to have been transferred to Ghezel Hesar Prison, an execution site. These five prisoners are death row political prisoners charged with affiliation to the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), and their lives are in grave danger.
The Mullah’s regime is acting currently in sheer panic. Last week, two prisoners associated with the PMOI, Mehdi Hassani and Behrouz Ehsani, were brutally executed despite international calls to halt their execution. The Iranian regime, engulfed in crisis and fearful of another uprising, is increasing executions in Iran to intimidate its restless society. Between August 3 and August 6 alone, the regime’s executioners hanged at least 29 prisoners, including one woman.
Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, stated: „The more the regime’s overthrow crises intensify, the more Khamenei accelerates the cycle of killings and executions to prolong the life of the clerical dictatorship for a short while. However, these heinous crimes only strengthen the resolve of the Iranian people and youth to confront the religious fascism.“
Maryam Rajavi called on the United Nations and relevant international bodies to take urgent action to save the lives of prisoners sentenced to death. She reiterated that Khamenei and other leaders of the regime must be brought to justice for four decades of crimes against humanity and genocide.
All western (and eastern) governments must take action towards the Iranian regime, requesting an immediate stop of the executions and the oppression of the Iranian people. It is obvious that the theocratic leaders have lost all confidence of their people and that the Iranian population aims for a peaceful, radical change. All governments should now call in the Iranian ambassadors and envision severe sanctions on this criminal regime. There are currently five human lives at stake and they, as well as so many others, must be saved!
