The Rosario Leo Files (season 2) – We Want Clarity and Answers

(KL) – When we reported in 2023 on the scandal surrounding the construction of gas pipelines in Italy, as millions of euros vanished into the shadowy channels of “Il Sistema” in Italy, we not only covered this story (you can find all articles in this first series under THIS LINK), but also informed all competent European institutions. Since we have received no response from any party, in this second round of the “Rosario Leo Files” we are asking all these institutions what has happened since then, what the institutions still intend to do, and how they plan to prevent or at least prosecute such incidents in the future.

Our first stop was the European Public Prosecutor’s Office in Luxembourg, which had only been in existence for a few years. Upon receipt of our documents, the file was accepted and the case was assigned the number PP.01119_2023_EN by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office on October 9, 2023.

Since we have not received any response from the European Public Prosecutor’s Office since then, we have now sent another inquiry with the following text:

“Dear ladies and gentlemen,

back in 2023, we have filed a lawsuit to which your office had attributed the number PP.01119_2023_EN on October 10, 2023. At the time, we had also proposed the comprehensive witness of Mr. Rosario Leo who by the time of the misdeeds, was the leader of a consortium of 8 construction companies in Italy which had all to be closed, because a big part of the European financing was not paid to them for their work in constructing gas pipelines through Italy.

We kindly request you to answer the following questions:

* Has there been any investigation on this case?

* If yes, what are the conclusions ? If no, why?

* Are you aware that new pipeline projects are underway in Italy and that chances are high that “Il sistema” will reproduce the same scheme?

* Has the file been forwarded to any other judicial entity on the European level?

* Will there be a follow-up on this case?
