What can Europe do to stop the murderous theocracy in Iran?

(KL/KD) – What the Public and Revolution Prosecutor’s Office in Khuzestan simply called an “incident”, destroyed an entire family. A group of agents attacked the food kiosk of the Baldi family in the city of Ahvaz, handcuffed the mother, arrested the father and destroyed the kiosk, the only source on income of the family. When their son, Ahmad Baldi, told them that he would set himself on fire if they continued their destruction, the agents just laughed and said “Go ahead and burn, let’s see how you burn”. And this is what happened. The self-immolation of Ahmad Baldi did not prevent the “security forces” to destroy the only family possession, but it did cost the life of the young man.

Mojahed Baldi, Ahmad’s father, in an interview with the media, exposed the crime of the municipal enforcement agents, stating: “When my son saw the enforcement forces destroying the stall, he begged them to wait, but no one listened. Ahmad said that if they continued, he would set himself on fire, hoping to stop them.” But this had no effect on the “agents of the Velayat-e Faqih” (Ali Khamenei) and Ahmad set himself on fire. Meanwhile, the agents, who had no warrant whatsoever, arrested Mojahed Baldi and his wife, after completely destroying the food kiosk and laughing at Ahmad’s self-immolation.

Ahmad was then transported to the Taleghani Hospital in Ahvaz, which was immediately surrounded by the regime’s “security agents”, creating an atmosphere of fear and intimidation in an attempt to prevent the spread of public protests. Reports from Ahvaz indicate that “security forces” have arrested at least three Ahvazi compatriots and media activists for disseminating news about Ahmad Baldi’s protest self-immolation.

Europa can not limit itself any longer to protest notes – Iran must be sanctioned as hard as possible. Hundreds of executions during the last weeks, dozens of opposition members, journalists and scientist in the death row awaiting their execution and the everyday terror of the “security forces” of a regime which is already on the edge to be overthrown.

The human catastrophe of Ahmad Baldi reminds of other self-immolations, like the one of Jan Palach in 1969 in Prague, also an act of despair to protest against inhuman oppression.

May the Baldi family come to peace again. But what can be done to stop the murderous regime in Teheran? Only Iranians can tell the western world what kind of support is needed to help them organize and be efficient. This might be one of the major roles of the National Council of Resistance in Iran (NCRI) – to act as an interface between those in Iran who need help and those in Europe or the USA who want to help the Iranian people in its fight for human rights.

The situation in Iran is getting worse by the day and just expressing compassion with the Iranian people is obviously not enough to bring this terror regime to fall. But fall it must.
