Die Europawahlen im Mai 2019 sind die bislang wichtigsten Europawahlen der Geschichte. Die Europäerinnen und Europäer stimmen darüber ab, ob Europa den Herausforderungen unserer Zeit gemeinsam begegnet und auf der Weltbühne geeint auftritt oder sich die Tendenzen zurück zu nationalen Egoismen fortsetzen. Die Wählerinnen und Wähler entscheiden, ob Europa seiner sozialen Verantwortung verstärkt nachkommt und die Menschen in den absoluten Mittelpunkt rückt oder soziale Rechte nur die zweite Geige hinter Wirtschaftsinteressen spielen. Sie bestimmen auch darüber, ob Internetkonzerne endlich ihren Beitrag zum Gemeinwohl leisten müssen oder sich weiterhin mit Steuertricks aus der Affäre ziehen können. Bei diesen Europawahlen werden wichtige Weichen für die Zukunft gestellt – jede/r sollte sein Recht nutzen, den Kurs der Europäischen Union mitzubestimmen.

Jo Leinen repräsentiert Deutschland im Europäischen Parlament

L’élection européenne au mois de mai 2019 est l’élection européenne la plus importante ayant jamais eu lieu. Les Européens et Européennes décideront si l’Europe fera face aux défis de notre époque ensemble ou si les tendances vers un retour des égoïsmes nationaux se confirment. Ce seront les électeurs et électrices qui détermineront si l’Europe se focalise sur sa responsabilité sociale en mettant l’Homme au centre de l’action politique ou si les droits sociaux devront se soumettre aux intérêts économiques. Ils décideront également si les géants d’Internet devront finalement payer leur contribution au bien commun ou si on continue à leur permettre de s’en tirer en leur laissant des possibilités d’évasion fiscale. Lors de cette élection européenne, on déterminera la direction que prendra l’Europe – et chacun et chacune devrait profiter de son droit de décider de l’avenir de l’Union Européenne.

The European election in May 2019 will be the most important European election ever. The European citizens will decide if Europe will be facing the challenges of our time together or if the tendency back to national egoism will be confirmed. The voters will determine if Europe will assume its social responsibility by placing humans in the center of the political action or if social rights will only come second after the interests of the economy. The voters will also decide if the Internet giants will have to pay their contribution to our societies or if they can continue to avoid paying taxes using all the tax evasion possibilities still offered. At the occasion of this European election, we will determine the future direction of Europe – and everybody should make use of the right to co-determine the future of the European Union.
