I think there are a lot of people out there who feel that these institutions don’t represent them, that they feel disconnected from them. For those people it is more important than ever that they actually vote, and that they vote for people who are going to represent them in the institutions, but also to take the message back to them – and also to take on board any criticism of the EU-Institutions. That would be my message particularly to the people who don’t vote: they are the ones who are more important than ever, to go out to vote and make sure that we return to a parliament which reflects the wishes of citizens and not their industries.

Ich denke, dass viele Menschen das Gefühl haben, diese Institutionen würden sie nicht vertreten. Sie fühlen sich von ihnen abgekoppelt. Für diese Menschen ist es wichtiger denn je, wählen zu gehen. Sie sollten Leute wählen, die sie in diesen Institutionen vertreten, die aber auch die Botschaft zurücktragen – und die ebenfalls die Kritik an den EU-Institutionen ernst nehmen. Das also wäre meine Botschaft insbesondere an jene Menschen, die eher nicht wählen wollen: Für sie ist es wichtiger als je zuvor, zur Wahl zu gehen und damit sicherzustellen, dass wir in ein Parlament zurückkehren, das deren Wünsche widerspiegelt und nicht die ihrer Industrie.

Je pense que beaucoup de gens ont l’impression que les institutions ne les représentent pas. Ils se sentent comme détachés des institutions. Pour ces gens-là, aller voter est plus important que jamais auparavant. Et ils devraient voter pour des candidat.e.s qui les représentent dans ces institutions, et qui portent leurs messages – et qui prennent les critiques formulées à l’égard des institutions européennes au sérieux. Voilà mon message, qui s’adresse surtout à ceux qui n’ont pas encore décidé s’ils allaient voter ou non : jamais il n’a été plus important de voter et d’assurer ainsi que nous retournons dans un parlement qui reflète les souhaits des citoyens et citoyennes, et non pas seulement ceux des industries.
