Ich habe mich in das Europaparlament wählen lassen, um etwas zu verändern, und ich muss sagen, ich bin grandios gescheitert. Ich werde mich nicht mehr wieder wählen lassen und auch nicht mehr wählen, denn dieses Parlament ist überflüssig. Vorher habe ich das nicht gewusst, jetzt weiß ich es. Wir haben die Kommission, den Rat und die nationalen Parlamente. Sämtliche Entscheidungen für Europa kann der Europäische Rat treffen, der ist demokratisch legitimiert, dazu brauchen wir dieses Parlament nicht. Das ist meine Erkenntnis nach fünf Jahren: Das Europaparlament gehört abgeschafft. Allerdings gibt es in Deutschland nur eine Partei, die das im Programm hat und die würde ich aus anderen Gründen nicht wählen. Also wähle ich gar nicht.

Je suis entré au Parlement Européen pour changer des choses et, je dois le dire, j’ai échoué de manière grandiose. Je ne vais plus me porter candidat et je ne vais pas non plus aller voter, car ce parlement est obsolète. Avant, je ne le savais pas, maintenant, je le sais. Nous avons la Commission, nous avons le Conseil et nous avons les parlements nationaux. Le Conseil peut prendre toutes les décisions concernant l’Europe, car il est démocratiquement légitimé, donc, nous n’avons pas besoin de ce parlement. Voilà ma conclusion au bout de 5 ans : le Parlement Européen doit être aboli. Toutefois, il n’y a qu’un seul parti en Allemagne qui demande ceci et ce parti, je ne pourrais pas voter  pour lui pour d’autres raisons. Donc, je ne voterai pas du tout.

I have entered the European Parliament to change things, but I must say, I failed greatly. I will not run for another mandate and I will not vote myself, since this parliament is superfluous. Before, I did not know, but now I know. We have the Commission, we have the Council and the national parliaments. The Council can take every decision regarding Europe because it has the democratic legitimization, we do not need the parliament for this. This is my conclusion after 5 years: The European Parliament should be abolished. However, only one party in Germany demands this and this party, I will not vote for it for other reasons. So, I will not be voting at all.
